The Wonders of Mediumship Pt. 2

I know the previous post was more like a cliffhanger. I wanted to share with you that during a session, it is likely that the Medium might not be able to connect. Some days are different than others and the connection might not be as solid. Although, you very well can continue on with the session, in my practice, in the event something like this should occur, I would then break up the session into parts, and try again at a later time.

Now - let’s get into it.

What is mediumship?

I’m sure we’ve all got our own interpretations on what this means. “Wait, you talk to spirits?” When I’m asked, my best visual representation of what mediumship looks like, I ask “Have you ever seen the movie, GHOST?” The answer is usually, YES, so usually, no further explanations are required lol But I’m going to break it down here for you anyway. Mediumship is the practice of communicating with those that have passed on to the spirit realm. A Medium is someone who is the conduit for the other worldly connection.

What can I expect during a session?

During a session, the Medium (the one who connects to the spirit of the loved ones who have passed), depending on what practice/tools they use to connect, will channel a loved one. The Sitter (you or someone who is looking to connect with a loved one who has passed), remains in a state of receiving/openness as to be receptive to the information that comes through. I, myself, use Trance Meditation to connect with the spirit realm for Mediumship sessions. In my trance state, the ‘veil is thin,’ I’m sure you’ve heard this phrase before, meaning the this world and the spirit realm are holding hands in a sense. Trance Meditation is a passive state of consciousness which suspends your own personal/present state of consciousness. In this passive state, one is receptive to different energies/frequencies, hence the movie GHOST, where Whoopi Goldberg’s character, Oda Mae, became possessed by the spirit at her practice and then later by Patrick Swayze’s character, Sam. In essence, a Medium allows themselves to be a vessel for Spirit. Sounds a little scary, huh? It can be. I’ll talk more about this in another post.

The Medium could not connect to my loved one. Why?

On occasion, a medium won’t be able to connect to the loved one you wish to connect with for certain reasons. For example, this loved one has reincarnated. Another example, the connection with this spirit isn’t strong enough or the spirit hasn’t figured out communication from the other side well enough yet. These and many other reasons. In turn, it’s possible to connect with someone you weren’t looking to connect to, or another spirit will hijack your session to have messages delivered to someone that you know in this realm, instead. This doesn’t make your session unsuccessful, every session is different. Should your reading be hijacked by another spirit, it’s likely that whoever the message is for, needs to hear it. Spirit works in mysterious ways and although something might not make sense in the moment, time proves to reveal what we need to know.

I was connected to my loved one but didn’t understand the messages that were being relayed to me. Why is that?

Sometimes, spirit will give us information that will help us validate those that have passed. The messages let us know that we have indeed made contact with this person. Other times, we will get messages that make little to no sense, but I promise you, there is still meaning behind this. You may not understand all at once what the message is at the time of the session, only to later on receive some kind of ‘AHA’ moment. Try not to get hung up on the information that has come through, that you’re not clear on. Those messages will clear themselves up with time.

I hope this gave y’all a bit more information on what Mediumship is and what you can expect from a session. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here!

‘til next time,

Yentl
